Social Media for Building Trust
Is it a good idea for a company and its employees to connect through social media with clients or customers?
This AdAge article provides good reason why it could be beneficial to build social relationships with clients and customers. Companies and individuals within a company make themselves more human and relatable by putting their lives on display. Seeing that the CEO regularly makes time to attend his son’s baseball games turns him into your next door neighbor instead of the professional that makes decisions you might not like about your favorite product.
Take this concept a step further and you could see how asking for customer’s opinions and sharing the reason behind a company decision could have the happy effect of building a community of supporters. My Starbuck’s Idea is built on this very premise, here consumers have a chance to provide feedback in a forum where they know it will accepted and embraced and then see when an idea comes to reality.
With the level of continued engagement on My Starbuck’s Idea – from 2008 to 10 minutes ago – it is clear that customers truly appreciate a two-way dialog with a brand.
