Faster ways to connect with brands
Recently Facebook’s COO, Sheryl Sandberg, asked audiences to embrace the end of email stating, “If you want to know what people like us will do tomorrow, you look at what teenagers are doing today.”
According to Sandberg, only 11% of teenagers use a traditional email platform on a daily basis. However, almost every individual we know, between the ages of 16 and 25, has a Facebook page, the majority of them checking their account several times a week. With over 400 million members and 100 million daily mobile users, Facebook has created a format allowing brands to connect to viable consumers faster than the majority of other online social networking sites.
According to research compiled by social media agency, Vitrue, “a Facebook Page with 1 million fans is worth a minimum of $3.6 million in earned media annually.” If research holds true to fact, marketers may start to decrease their email marketing efforts to focus more on social media opportunities.
