Journey as destination

The path to a finished product is littered with thoughts, of which a handful become ideas and only a few take shape. The process, if done right, should leave behind building blocks – concepts, geometry, textures, code.

For example, experiments can become pieces of art, logo explorations evolve into a typeface and conversations can spark a design aesthetic for a record label.

The point is, we should never throw away shrapnel from the process. It’s the good stuff. We should put it away on our hard drive, get some distance and build something new.
